Strategy and Operations Fellow

The Strategy and Operations team works across NYC Opportunity’s Manhattan and Brooklyn offices to manage NYC Opportunity’s budget, contracting, human resources and organizational development. The team leads the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) working groups and facilitates quarterly staff meetings. The Strategy and Operations team works directly with Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Human Resources Administration (HRA), Mayor’s Office of Contract Services (MOCS), Mayor’s Office (MO), Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), Office of Technology Innovation (OTI) and other agencies and partners. The Strategy and Operations Team also serves as a lead on Special Projects.


  Responsibilities

The Strategy & Operations Fellow will support procurement, overall office-wide strategy and office operations. Position will report to the Director of Strategy and Operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Director in contracting functions of procurement through contract registration.
    • Support processing of Evaluation Master contract, amendments and Task Orders, MWBE, small purchase orders and Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with agencies.
    • Manage internal process of submitting required documents to fiscal agent (generally HRA) for full process of procurement to contract registration to invoicing.
    • Support development of requests for proposals for technology and professional service vendors
  • Support office needs, including ordering supplies, maintaining licenses, office equipment and inventory lists, coordinating with vendors and/or processing invoices, and troubleshooting office technology issues.
  • Support office-wide activities (eg, staff meetings, workshops, social events).
  • Assist with office-wide diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) working sessions and cross-team collaboration, including planning cross-team projects, supporting project management, creating timelines, and writing status reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  Skills We're Seeking

Ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize among assignments.

Experience working closely with communities who are engaging with public services and programs and/or has lived-experience engaging with public services and programs.

Knowledge with Microsoft Office and Google Business Suite.

Strong administrative and organizational skills.

Preferred skills with Airtable bases and advanced use of spreadsheets.

Highly collaborative with ability to use independent judgment and knowledge of when and how to seek input from colleagues.

  Education and Experience

Preferred bachelor’s with at least one year relevant work experience (or equivalent).

  Benefits and Compensation

The hourly rate for the fellowship is $27.50/hr and does not offer health benefits.

This position has an expected start of September 2024 and is primarily based in NYC Opportunity’s office in Downtown Brooklyn with occasional work at 253 Broadway.
