Policy Content Analyst

As part of the Product Team, the Policy Content Analyst ensures that our products, including ACCESS NYC and Growing Up NYC have accessible, up to date, and actionable information for NYC residents seeking government assistance.

The Policy Content Analyst role is writing-intensive and involves relationship management with stakeholders across government. They will work with internal teams of product managers, content strategists, developers, and interns, and also with external stakeholders across government agencies that deliver benefits and services.


  Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the editorial process for digital information about public benefits for our office’s websites.
    • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
    • Conduct regular reviews of content with stakeholders to maintain accurate and up to date information.
    • Draft and publish scheduled content updates or as needed. Maintain plain language writing standards, targeting an 8th grade reading level.
    • Conduct research and evaluate new government programs as potential content for our websites.
    • Draft new content and engage with stakeholders from agencies to onboard them to our editorial review process by delivering presentations that introduce our office’s work and the value that we provide to agencies and to NYC residents.
  • Manage the implementation of translations for content, and work with a team of fellows to implement across products.
  • Manage updates for the ACCESS NYC Benefits Screener, which lets households determine potential eligibility for 40+ benefits based on factors such as income, expenses, and household composition.
    • Be able to understand eligibility criteria for public benefits which can often be complex.
    • Identify changes to eligibility criteria for benefits that are screened-for on ACCESS NYC, and work with developers, product managers, and fellows, to ensure that logic is implemented as expected on ACCESS NYC.
  • Manage other content updates for ACCESS NYC and Growing Up NYC in WordPress and digital outreach initiatives including:
    • Office location information.
    • Homepage announcements and alerts.
    • Email newsletters.
  • Support data analytics review and reporting, summarize web traffic and performance of content, and present key information to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation as needed.
  • Support requests for general training and presentations on products as needed.

Experience working closely with communities who are engaging with public services and programs and/or has lived-experience engaging with public services and programs.

Experience in policy, government or non-profit, in particular with low-income and vulnerable youth and families is a plus.

Ability and interest in learning, understanding, and translating complex information related to government programs and simplifying this for the benefit of the public.

Can organize work for yourself and delegate tasks to others.

Familiarity or willingness to learn data analysis methods and tools like Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, and Google Tag Manager.

  Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities.

  Benefits and Compensation

The salary range for this position is $62,215 - $83,981 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
