Associate Director of EquityNYC

EquityNYC builds local government capacity to increase racial and social equity by providing New York City agencies and offices with the resources, coordination, accountability, and community necessary to achieve better outcomes for all New Yorkers now, and for generations to come. Equity NYC was created to implement Executive Order 45 (EO45): OneNYC Equity Review. EO45 directs the Mayor’s Office of Operations, through the Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, to work with agencies and offices in the City of New York to ensure racial and social equity is an integral consideration in all policymaking and programs.

The Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity is seeking an Associate Director of EquityNYC to manage the implementation of EO45, which guides New York City’s citywide equity work through (1) the production of the digital EquityNYC report and (2) the provision of equity-focused training and individualized technical assistance to New York City agencies.


  Responsibilities

The Associate Director will be responsible for project managing all aspects of the EquityNYC report, including:

  • Liaising with and providing guidance to City agencies in order to identify important areas of citywide data collection that could be collected and analyzed in order to better measure equity.
  • Overseeing the collection, analysis, and reporting of agencies’ administrative data across eight domains of equity and five standard equity metrics.
  • Coordinating data, product, and content development teams in the ongoing evolution of the digital tool.

The Associate Director will be responsible for serving as a primary point of contact to support City agencies in their ongoing efforts to reduce racial and social inequity within the jurisdiction of their work. This includes:

  • Introducing staff across agencies to provide mutual support and coordination of institutional equity strategies.
  • Identifying themes in City agencies’ capacity building needs and working with the EquityNYC Director in developing resources to meet those needs.
  • Managing contracts and relationships with third party trainers and other vendors.
  • Execute special projects as necessary.

Experience managing teams, balancing collaborative decision-making with delivering in a fast-paced environment.

An entrepreneurial spirit and a creative drive to improve systems and connect people.

Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

  Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree + 5 years relevant work experience.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
